A Farm Wife's Life Family Farm Kids

The New Farm Hand – Wynn Michael

So I know it’s been a while since I last posted, but I’ve had a good reason, I promise……

On March 15th, we welcomed our 4th child into this world….

I would like to introduce you all to our son ….

Wynn Michael

He was 8lbs 12oz and 21 1/2 inches long and just perfect as can be!!!

My water broke at 2:30 in the morning. I had actually just layed back down after going to the bathroom…..which seems to happen a million times a night when you’re 9 months pregnant. I hit woke Caleb and old him and he jumps up and say “WHAT, are you sure!”

I told him “YES, now get me a towel!!!” The last thing I wanted was a big nasty mess all over the carpet in our room!

Anyway, we got up and started getting ready to head to the hospital. Ya see I had tested positive for Group B Strep. We had to deal with it with our last child, Adaline, too.  Untimely to deal with it they like for the mamma to have two rounds of antibiotics before delivering the baby to ensure the baby is not effected by it. since this it baby #4 and the last two labors were 5-7 hours from start to finish the nurses wanted me come on in and get started on the antibiotics, cause we figured this labor would go fast too….

Since it was the middle of the night we didn’t want to wake the rest of the kids, so we called Caleb’s parents to come over and stay house till morning when the kids woke up and then they took them back to their house.

About that, it ended up being a 13 1/2 hour long delivery. He wasn’t in a hurry to get here. My contractions were never steady or very strong so they ended up giving me pitocin to help speed it up, and boy was I glad!

The worst thing about having to having to be given antibiotics and pitocin is you are also given fluids and you end up poofing up like a beached whale…..not that I was all that small before!

By the time it was all said and done I was exhausted and glad he was here!! With all four kids Caleb always stays above the belt, but when it’s all over with he always cuts the cord.

Fact: Every time I tell someone how big Wynn was their usual response is “Wow he was a big boy. Was he your biggest?”

Nope, he was my puney one. Iscel was 8lbs 15oz, Adaline 9lbs 5oz and Chester was 10lbs even.

So the kids weren’t able to come visit the first night since it was so late in the day when we finaly got to our room and Caleb’s dad was wore out from all the stuff he needed to do on the farm since we weren’t really prepaired for going into labor. Anyway parents had made it down the day we had him so the next day they went and picked up all the kids and brought them up to see Wynn.

So about a year ago  Chester said he wanted a little brother. Caleb and I thought we were done having kids so I told Chester he needed to talk to God about that….

Well he started praying that mommy would get pregnant again….

Then when we did get pregnant Chester said he wanted a brother. Once again I told him he needed to talk to God about that cause I didn’t have any control over that. Well this boy prayed at least once if not two or three times every day that we would have a baby boy.

When we told Chester over the phone that we had the baby, I tried to tell him it was a girl, but he “No, its a boy cause I prayed for one.”

Well, needless to say he was so thrilled about having a baby brother, as you can see in this picture!

Fact: The only reason Chester wanted a baby brother was so we would have an even number of boys and girls in the house, cause he is a numbers person.

Fact: When you have 4 kids and the oldest is 5 this is as good as it gets for a family picture.

It’s gonna be crazy at our house over the next few years, but it’s also gonna be a lot of fun too!!

So since the last two labors were no more than 7 hours long, I called my folks on the way to the hospital…..at 3;30 in the morning….cause they live 6 1/2 hours away and always want to get there as soon as possible. Well they couldn’t get back to sleep so they got up and did all their chores around the farm and headed our way. Well they got there long before Wynn got here.

So I have relatively easy pregnancy’s, but I am over joyed when they are over and I feel a million times better once my babies get here. So after one night in the hospital and just over 24 hours after he was born we headed home. Now the other kids didn’t join us for the first night home and actually didn’t come home till the following evening. I always miss them when they aren’t there with me, but it was nice to have a day at home to just hang out with and snuggle this little man.

It’s hard to believe he is already two weeks old. I know it’s gonna go fast so I am trying to enjoy every moment of it.

Hope all is well with each of you!
